OTHERWISE OCCUPIED
OTHERWISE OCCUPIED
Busy busy busy
No time to spare – Or share
Or seek behind the masks
The ones they wear – Or ours
BIT PART
BIT PART
Anonymous, unavowed
This unremarkable string
Fastened in place with pegs
To the harp’s framework
No specific name or title
Beyond the one designated
Conventionally to this one
Frequency of vibration
In one among various
Tonal systems – Pinned
The name, the tone, is true
Only if the string is stretched
To one unvarying degree
Not too tense, nor too slack
That one pure perfect note
Which, plucked over and over
Soon becomes monotonous
Quite void of all interest
A bore, dull and tedious
No wonder – Look at the word
Shush, they’re about to begin
The harp gives angelic voice
Our unremarked string sings
No longer a sole monotone
Key note in the heavenly choir
(NOT) GETTING IT WRONG
The inhabitants of two villages decided that their village could do with a proper well and a latrine. The folk of the first village drew up rough plans and started work, adapting their plans as required. The folk of the second village are still discussing their design: the style, the decoration, the materials, the colour, etc, etc …
MIDAS WELL (AND WHY NOT?)
MIDAS WELL (AND WHY NOT?)
Say yes to life’s joys
Inexhaustible riches
So be round, not sharp
LIFE
Life is there to be experienced, to make choices, to learn.
Whether you have A, or B, or C, or D, sometimes depends on your choices; other times it is out of your control.
Best to make the most of each experience, whatever it comes out to be; you cannot predict.
Discover yourself through others; discover others through yourself.
You are writing your autobiography with each breath, and that’s the one you will have available to look back on in years to come.
THE POWER OF COMPASSION
THE POWER OF COMPASSION
Wrapped up in your pain?
Nothing compares to feeling
That of another’s.
